Amber Heard opens up about the jury’s verdict in her libel lawsuit against Johnny Depp in an upcoming interview.

Heard and Depp were both found guilty of defamation following a week-long legal battle that unfolded in a Virginia courtroom and on social media. Despite reports that Depp’s popularity took a hit during the trial, Heard was presented as the butt of multiple jokes on social media. She also commented on how she was featured online.

“Even someone who is sure that I deserve this hate and vitriol; even if you think I’m lying, you still can’t look me in the eye and tell me that you think on social media there’s had fair representation,” she said. “You can’t tell me you think it was right.”

Heard previously commented on the court’s decision in a statement shared on Instagram.

“The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I am heartbroken that the mountain of evidence was still not enough to withstand the disproportionate power, influence and grip of my ex-husband,” she wrote.

The actress called the move a “setback” for women. “It takes the clock back to a time when a woman who spoke out and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It pushes back the idea that violence against women should be taken seriously.”

“I am sad to have lost this case,” she concluded the statement. “But I’m even sadder to have lost a right I thought I had as an American – to speak freely and openly.”
