Jaishankar and his Slovak counterpart examine bilateral cooperation and discuss the conflict in Ukraine

Bratislava [Slovakia]Jun 3 (NNA): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday reviewed bilateral cooperation with Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korcok and identified areas for further development of bilateral relations.
Jaishanakar, who is India’s first foreign minister to visit Slovakia, said he appreciated Korcok’s insights into Europe‘s views on global politics and that their conversation on Ukraine was particularly helpful.
“Was warmly welcomed by FM @IvanKorcok as the first Indian Foreign Minister to visit Slovakia. Reviewed our bilateral cooperation and identified areas for future growth. Committed to delivering this through continued interactions,” Jaishanakar said in a tweet.
“I enjoyed his insights into Europe’s views on world politics. Our conversation on Ukraine was particularly helpful,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Jaishankar met with members of the Indian community in Slovakia.
Jaishankar pays an official visit to Slovakia and the Czech Republic from June 2 to 6. During his visit to Bratislava, Jaishankar also visited Eduard Heger, Prime Minister of Slovakia.
“Thank you Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic @eduardheger for meeting with me this morning. Passed on Prime Minister @narendramodi’s greetings and our appreciation for his support during Operation Ganga. We discussed expanding our political, economic and defense cooperation,” the Minister of External Affairs said in a tweet.
He attended the 2022 GLOBSEC Forum today and spoke on the topic “Taking Friendship to the Next Level: Allies in the Indo-Pacific Region”.
During its visit to the Czech Republic from June 4 to 6, EAM will meet with Jan Lipavsky, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The discussions will provide an opportunity for a comprehensive review of our bilateral cooperation. The Czech Republic will take over the EU Presidency from July 1, 2022.
In addition to meeting political leaders from both countries, EAM will also interact with a cross-section of the diaspora, including Indian students in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
India traditionally maintains close and friendly ties with Slovakia and the Czech Republic. EAM’s visit will give new impetus to bilateral relations with the two Central European countries. (ANI)
