Moviegoers around the world will vote for Oscar-qualified Manhattan short film finalists – The Livingston Post.com

Livingston County moviegoers can join more than 100,000 moviegoers on six continents who will gather at more than 300 theaters, universities, museums, libraries and art centers to view and choose all 10 short films (18 minutes and under), who will be finalists in the Manhattan Short Film Festival from September 22 to October 2. Manhattan Shorts is the ultimate audience award that salutes the creative talents of the directors behind the camera and the actors in front.
Manhattan’s Top 10 Finalist Shorts will screen at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25; 2 p.m. Thursday, September 29; or 1 p.m. on Friday, September 30. Viewers will become instant movie critics as they will receive an entry ballot that allows them to vote for Best Movie and Best Actor; at the end of the program, customers will be able to vote for the film they liked the most. The same films will be screened each session, giving customers three opportunities to attend the screening that fits into their schedule.
By virtue of their selection by Manhattan Short, each short film is automatically qualified for the Oscars.
The 10 short films presented have a common theme: how people deal with adversity in its different forms. The finalists come from eight countries, with films from Scotland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Spain, Australia, Finland and Lebanon, as well as two films from France and the United States. These final 10 films represent the best shorts among 870 submissions from 70 countries received by Manhattan Short for 2022.
The winner will be announced at 10 a.m. EST on Monday, October 3 at ManhattanShort.com .
