Stasek becomes the new Czech ambassador to the United States – Brno Daily

Prague, Sep 2 (CTK) – Former State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Miloslav Stasek is the new Czech Ambassador to the United States from today, replacing Hynek Kmonicek, who will become Ambassador to Vietnam .

Stasek was appointed by the previous government of Andrej Babis (ANO).

Previously, Stasek served as ambassador to Egypt and India, where he replaced Kmonicek.

Since 2015, he has been working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was first the head of the economic diplomacy department, and from 2016 served as deputy minister for the control of the economic section and operations. He was also director of the Middle East and Africa department. He was appointed Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in November 2017.

Kmonicek has served as ambassador to the United States since March 2017. Prior to that, he was director of the foreign affairs department in the presidential office. He is an experienced diplomat who has served in Australia, Asia and the United Nations.

Former Ambassador to Zambia Radek Rubes will become the new State Secretary of the Czech Foreign Ministry.

Since last August, Rubes has been the director of the Secretary of State’s Resort Section and Concept Management Department. He previously headed the Czech embassy in Zambia for four years.

In the past, he also served as head of the Czech Republic‘s liaison office in Ramallah, deputy ambassador to South Africa and head of the consular section at the embassy in Cairo.
